I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to hear your songs. God arranged for me to hear them through a complicated series of events. I was given a CD by a pastor in Quebec while I was travelling, and I have listened to it over and over. I would like hear more of them .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am a Christian ethnomusicologist. My wife and I were missionaries in Kenya for 11 years and are now settled in the U.S. We have long been committed to equipping people in writing culturally expressive Christian songs. I listened to the THE CD, but it was hard to believe that the melodies could flow so naturally being based on prose rather than poetry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I listened to your treatment of Ecclesiastes 6 yesterday with the text in English. God had put that passage on my heart as a theme to keep returning to this year. I was familiar with the music from many hearings, but seeing how the musical structure supported the text brought new life to the words. I love the nuances of expression you give to the main words. God’s hand is surely on you. Thank you for letting the power of the Word flow from you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then the Lord confirmed it by putting the music for the Bible verses into my thoughts. Without realising it I kept singing Psalm 138:7-8. \u201cThe LORD will fulfil his purpose for me\u201d\u2026 The moment I became conscious of it, I knew that the Lord would be with me in this conversation and would help me. \u201cAt the beginning of the year I heard the text for the year: \u201cI will never leave you nor forsake you\u201d being played and sung. This encouraging and comforting promise touched me enormously. The words sank deeply into my heart and I was able to cry, since I had had some difficulties and I knew how intensely I needed God to help me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some weeks later I asked the \u201cSing the Bible\u201d team to put my favourite verse to music for my birthday. Since the text was very short the team got inspired and wrote a song in which there were also other similar texts, for instance the text from Romans 8 \u201cwho is he who condemns us?\u201d During the singing I had tears in my eyes although I am not one who cries easily. They were exactly the kinds of Bible texts which were in my mind but could not reach my heart. Now, nine months later God spoke to me again consolingly through a series called \u201cWord and Sound\u201d. What did God say? I had failed again and had great difficulty forgiving myself. Finally I put the CD with my birthday song into the player and listened to the Bible text being sung for me. \u201cWho is he who condemns us? I am dead and resurrected\u2026at the right hand of God I represent you.\u201d While I was assimilating theses promises deep in my heart I cried again as the burden was lifted from me. I felt God\u2019s assurance: \u201cWho can condemn you, if God does not?\u201d God comforted and encouraged me in a new way. His sung words opened a new floodgate of gratitude and confidence and I literally sensed the reality of his support: \u201cI will never leave you nor forsake you\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bible verse from Romans 12, (verse 10), which was specially put to music for us, the other sung verses and the piano accompaniment gave the wedding a very special festive note which we will never forget. All the positive reactions were unbelievable and a great pleasure for us. And all the interest in the CD with 107 sung Bible verses pleased us too. It is quite unique to be able to sing Bible verses or sing along with the CD, encouraging and heart warming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
